Certifications & awards

It is our own aspiration to be better than others, which is why we are proud to be the only four-star superior hotel in the region to be classified. In Germany, hotel classification is on a voluntary basis. The 270 standardized and binding assessment criteria are defined by the hotel industry division of the German Hotel and Restaurant Association (DEHOGA). The addition “Superior” identifies those establishments that offer a particularly high level of service in their star category. The stars remain valid for a maximum of three years and were last awarded in 2023. The hotel was rated above average in the following areas based on individual sample criteria:

• Building and room facilities: room size, accessibility, hotel garage and coach parking available, etc.
• Furnishings and equipment: contemporary mattresses, 2 pillows per guest, door viewer, individually adjustable air conditioning, etc.
• Service: Capsule coffee machine in the room, 2 restaurants, regional cuisine, guest laundry cleaned within 24 hours, etc.
• Leisure: 3 cardio machines on the 5th floor, 2 saunas, bicycle rental, babysitting on request, etc.
• Offer design: online bookability, informative website with realistic pictures, etc.
• In-house conference area: more than 250 m² conference capacity, daylight in all event rooms, free Wi-Fi in all rooms, etc.

We are committed to the “Travel for all” program. All test-relevant areas meet the quality criteria of the “Accessibility tested – partially barrier-free for people with walking disabilities and wheelchair users” label. Among other things, we offer:

• two barrier-free rooms
• step-free and threshold-free access
• wheelchair-accessible tables in the Oliv’s restaurant and in the Aubergine gourmet restaurant
• a designated parking space for people with disabilities in the underground car park

The awarding of a star is the result of a long process. Visits by various MICHELIN inspectors are taken into account, as are the performance of the chef and the service quality of the entire team. We are therefore all the more delighted that the quality, taste and personal touch in the dishes of Maximilian Moser and his team have once again been recognized in the Guide MICHELIN with 1 MICHELIN star: “Great product quality, meticulous craftsmanship and intense flavours are complemented by a visually appealing presentation.”

Culinary progress comes about when chefs are encouraged to do their job better and better and guests are encouraged to demand more and more. In line with this guiding principle, the Gault&Millau RestaurantGuide 2022 once again recognizes Aubergine’s culinary achievements with 2 toques and 15 points.

VDR certification as Certified Business Hotel® The Verband Deutsches Reisemanagement e. V. (VDR) is an association of travel and mobility managers from German commercial enterprises and service providers in the mobility industry. In 2000, this association developed the Certified Business Hotel® certificate, which specifically reflects the needs of business travelers and is thus intended to serve as an optimal decision-making aid for bookings. The test catalog for a Certified Business Hotel® comprises 100 criteria. The voluntary certification remains valid for a maximum of three years and was last reviewed and successfully passed on site in June 2023.

Among other things, the following areas were tested and rated above average:

• Mobile phone accessibility is guaranteed throughout the hotel
• The light at the desk is at least 500 lux
• The hotel lends standard charging adapters at reception
• The hotel provides a dining service until at least 23:00
• All rooms have individually adjustable air conditioning
• Free high-speed WiFi Internet is available throughout the hotel

In order to provide you as an event planner with orientation and security in a selection of over 3,200 conference hotels in Germany, the Verband Deutsches Reisemanagement e. V. (VDR) has developed the Certified Conference Hotel® certificate. A Certified Conference Hotel® must fulfill 70 criteria from seven different categories in order to create the conditions for a successful event. The voluntary certification remains valid for a maximum of three years and was last reviewed on site in June 2023 and assessed as exemplary by the auditor.

Among other things, the following points were assessed:

• The conference rooms comply with a sound insulation regulation of at least 45 dB
• The conference rooms all have natural daylight and the lighting can be dimmed and switched by segment
• The hotel adheres to a standardized quotation procedure and has conference-specific information material
• The hotel provides professional conference support before, during and after the event
• Beamer, flipchart, moderator case, pin board and free WiFi high-speed internet are part of the basic equipment
• There are sufficient power sockets in the conference area, high voltage current if necessary and much more.

Sustainable action and business will become increasingly important in the future. For this reason, the VDR has developed another certificate that focuses on ecological and socially responsible action. With the certification as a Certified Green Hotel®, the hotel can guarantee that companies with above–average standards of ecology and sustainability will use a service provider that meets the requirements of sustainable management 100%. The test catalogue for a Certified Green Hotel® includes 95 individual criteria from nine different categories (Energy, Water, Waste, F&B, Travel & Traffic, CSR, Communication, Special Measures, Strategy).

The voluntary certification remains valid for a maximum of three years and was last tested on site in June 2023 and passed with above–average success.

A few examples from the seven categories are intended to demonstrate sustainable management and working in accordance with the Resources at the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Starnberg.
